The second lesson would be dedicated to preparation for an interview. We’ll have another lesson about interviewing, but today we’ll talk about two important things:
Context in the king
If context is a king, preparation is a queen
Imagine: you’ve found the job post of your dream. Let’s have a look at it: we’ll highlight the key points, pay attention to the words and constructions that are used — you also may use them during the interview. It would sound great and help you to make a good impression on employer.
Example: Let’s have a look at the job description by Spotify Look at these theses: You have a deep understanding of creative sourcing strategies to find those diamonds in the rough You have 6+ years working as a technical recruiter hiring top talent in a vibrant environment You are driven and you always find ways of improving the quality of your work You possess strong interpersonal and consultative skills
I’d also recommend you to re-read the company page (career page especially), visit social media pages (Linkedin & others): collect words and phrases that are frequently used. Write out to yourself everything that concerns the values of the company. Using this vocabulary during an interview would be a nice gesture. Plus, it’s a great way to learn new words.
Example: Again, let’s have a look at the Spotify career page we like to think of ourselves as a band innovative: move fast, take big risks, cultivate curiosity, mistake as a lesson sincere: transparency, engagement, open mind, trust, feedback passionate: care, share, excitement, energize collaborative: together, equal opportunity, participate, share playful: connect, celebrate, jam
See? That’s truly a great exercise for anyone who is willing to expand the vocabulary.
There is nothing better than practice It’s stressful but think about it as killing two birds with one stone: it’s you chance to find a great job and it’s an opportunity to see the interview process from the other side. That is really great for any recruiter/HR specialist. Never refuse to be interviewed.
Well, I know how hard it is to understand what other person is talking about. Different intonations, different punctuation and a completely different cultural context - oh, it will not be easy! So
